Bank Holiday Weekend.

The bank holiday weekend was lovely - Mum came up on Friday, and we went to Ikea to get some more bookcases for the library. On Saturday, we went to the Trafford Centre, and Ade got himself loads of t-shirts, plus a new Tassimo coffee machine. I just got a top, but it was nice to look round.

On Sunday morning, me and Mum went in to Stockport to get some wellies for our camping trip next week, plus I also got some Acrylic paints, paper and brushes, as I fancy trying some painting!

Sunday night was the Bennion BBQ - and the weather was fantastic! There are some photos on facebook - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=96655&id=682076020&l=afc4b335aa

On Monday we went for a walk round a reservoir, and had an ice cream too.

Yesterday, me and Mum went over to Abakhan and I got lots of fabric, so I'm going to be busy! We also went to John Lewis and I got some fabric there too, then Tescos to get a lantern and camping chair for Mum. We went to the quiz last night and didn't do very well, but at least we beat Lumbered.
I also picked our first radish yesterday:

It was yummy! Hopefully there'll be more soon, plus I might pick some lettuce too, as that's getting quite big. And we've got loads of strawberries on the strawberry plants, but they're all still green.

I finished my hemp jacket over the weekend too. It needs to be washed to soften up the hemp a bit, but here are a couple of photos anyway:

I'm not sure what I'll be doing for the rest of the week, but I need to get some housework done, as we're off to Birmingham this weekend to see JK and Gareth, and then next Friday we're off camping in Southwold.

Another shirt.

I've finished another shirt - this one is from some fabric I got from Ikea for £1.56 a metre, and I used less than 2 metres! It's exactly the same pattern as the orange one, and I really like it.

I've got to do some housework now, as Mum is coming to stay tomorrow. We're going to Ikea tomorrow afternoon to get another bookcase and CD rack for the library, so I might have a look at the fabric. I've found a really lovely pattern for a summer dress, so if it's going to be as hot as Ade keeps saying this summer, I might make myself one or two. Or else I'll just have to persuade him to take me away from it all to somewhere hot that I've never been before (and not just the kitchen!)

Orange shirt

I've finished my shirt! Most of the work was done on Friday, although I did the collar on Saturday afternoon whilst Ade was playing on the Wii, and I put the sleeves in this afternoon. I'm really pleased with this shirt, as I took the pattern in quite a lot around the waist, and put extra darts in the back so that it fits me a lot better than the last one.

A close-up of the collar:

It actually looks a lot better on me, as I'm quite a bit more curvy than Diana*, but I couldn't get a very good photo of myself.

* Diana is my dressmaking dummy :-)

A quiet week.

At the start of the week, I was still getting over the cold that Ade gave me, so didn't really do very much, although I did make this:

On Tuesday, I managed to go to the gym for the first time in ages and had a swim, and then on the way back I dropped Pootle off at the garage, as the clutch pedal keeps sticking down when changing gear. As I had a few hours to kill, I went and joined the library, and did a bit of shopping. When I picked up Pootle, Jon said that it would cost £150 to fix, but if I was OK with making quick gear changes, and pulling up the pedal when it gets stuck, there's no reason to get it fixed.

Tuesday night was the quiz, and we didn't do quite as well as last week, although we still managed to beat Lumbered. The rest of the week has been quite dull, although I did make a bit of a start on the Library. I kept getting distracted though - I found my journals from when I was 18, so had to read through them, plus I also found these that Gareth sent us, so had to make them:

I also made some parsley soup on Wednesday, as the parsley plants in the garden are going mad, plus gym yesterday, followed by shopping at Morrisons for a bit of a change! I still managed to spend over £80, but I did get quite a lot of vodka and beer...

Today, I've been sewing, but I haven't finished it yet, so no photos. Hopefully I'll get it finished on Monday, so can show off what I've been up to.

Right, I think I'll play a bit of Wii now, while I wait for Ade to come home.

Beads.

Today, I have been watching Firefly and playing with beads:

A very busy week!

Well, this last week has been very busy! Mum came up on Friday, and we headed in to Stockport for a bit of shopping, before coming home and Ade cooking tea. We also had some carrot cake, and I remembered to take a photo of it this time:

Ade got me some flowers:

The lillies are out now, and smell lovely, and look pretty good too:

Saturday, we went to Tatton Park with Pea, and had a picnic. Sunday, we went over to Oldham and went out with Phil, then we went to Rebecca and Patrick's for a Barbecue, then round Royton for a bit of a pub crawl. On Monday, we went on a steam train, and then Angela cooked us a lovely roast dinner. I've put photos on Facebook, so I won't put them here as well. Here are the links for those not on Facebook:

On Tuesday, Mum and I went in to Manchester to do a bit of shopping, and to have a look to see if we could find out any more information about my Great-great-grandfather. He was married in the cathedral in 1836, and was stationed in the Barracks in Hulme at the time. Tuesday night, Mum came along to the pub quiz, and thanks to her help, we managed to win, and even got a fantastic score of 24/25 for the first half!

I've got Ade's cold now, so I haven't really doing very much since Mum left yesterday, but I did make these stars this afternoon:

I'll probably do some more beading tomorrow, something a bit more practical, but they were great fun to make.

Ade's home now, and he's starting to cook tea, so that's it for today.
