Spending some time at home

I came back home yesterday with Ade, after cooking Mum Sunday lunch for mother's day. I had to get up early this morning to take Ade to the station, but then went back to bed again, and didn't get up until 10:30! I then spent the rest of the day playing on the Wii, with a bit of a Neighbours catchup in the middle, until it was time to pick Ade up from the station at around 8pm. Ade's currently shooting zombies, and then we're going to watch some tv before bed.

The funeral has been set for next Thursday (2nd April), and will be held at the local church in Alvaston and then on to the crematorium. I'm obviously not looking forward to it, but it will be lovely to see all the family, and hopefully we'll give Dad a good send-off.

Just to let everyone know, I won't be updating this blog for a little while, as my Dad passed away yesterday, and I'm in Derby with my family.

An easy day...

I got the call at 5:20 last night that Pootle was ready to be picked up, so I headed down to get her, and then had to wait 10 minutes whilst they washed her! which meant that dinner was a bit late, but it was still ready before Eastenders, and was very nice too.

Didn't get up until 8:45 this morning, so just got up and went straight out (after washing and getting dressed of course!). Dropped Ade's suit off at the dry cleaners and then headed to Ikea. Turns out they don't open until 10, so had to wait a little bit, but I think they open the cafe a bit earlier, so got in about 5 minutes to 10. Had a lovely breakfast and a cup of tea for the incredibly low price of £1.66, and I think it might even be cheaper if I use the store card they gave me on the way out, as it says you get free tea and coffee with that. I'm going to have to limit my visits though, as I don't think it's the most healthy of breakfasts, but for only 93p, you can't complain!

Didn't buy much at Ikea, just a shoe rack for under the stairs, some picture hooks, and some more fabric for another shirt. I'm going to have to get sewing soon, as I've got enough fabric for at least 4 shirts now! They've got some really fabulous fabric there, so I might make some summer dresses too, but I need to find the right pattern first. The shoe rack is now in place under the stairs, and it looks a lot more tidy:

Also went to Tescos on the way back to get food for the weekend, plus a bottle of Vanilla Absolut to see if it's a nice as the Stolichnaya one. I'm sure me and Ade will be trying it out tonight!

This afternoon, I made this
Not sure what one to do next - I've already done Peach and Waluigi, but I think a set of four would be best. Any suggestions?
I'm going to sit down now with a nice cup of tea and my knitting and watch some TV until Ade gets home. He's cooking tonight - we're having fajitas - so I don't have to worry about getting the tea ready or anything. In fact, I might even pour myself a small G&T...

Busy Day!

I didn't get much done yesterday afternoon, just pottering around a bit, and then a phone call from the garage saying there was a problem with Pootle. Of course, my mind went in to overdrive then, wondering what else they'd found wrong with her, or that they'd set her on fire whilst welding, but it turns out they'd just run out of welding gas, and can't get any more until this afternoon. Which means I still haven't got Pootle back, but at least it's not going to cost any more money!

I found another bag of CDs whilst I was tidying up, so now I really, really need another rack to put them in. I'm not sure if Ikea still do the sort we've got - I can't find them on the website, but I might have to have a trip over there tomorrow to properly look, and maybe I'll treat myself to some fabric too :-)

Today has been very productive - I've actually finished the green room!

Of course, it all had to go somewhere, so I have a pile of stuff in the library that is my "craft things to finish":

and a pile of stuff to take to the charity shop/recycling place:

I also cleared out the cupboard under the stairs so I could put all the camping and fishing stuff in there, and I'm amazed at how many pairs of shoes my lovely husband has!!!

Now of course, I've probably got a similar number, but I'm a girl and it's allowed. (Oh, and I also put mine in various different places, not just under the stairs, so it doesn't look like I've got that many ;-)

So I'm knackered now, but feeling pretty good about what I've achieved today. I think tomorrow I'm going to spend doing craft stuff, and if I get Pootle back, I may head over to Ikea, and even the gym!

I've got to go over to Netto now and brave the chavs, as I need an onion for tonight's dinner (Sausage casserole with roast potatoes). Hopefully it's not too busy, although they only ever seem to have one till open.

Finally finished it!

Hooray - I've finally done it! Although I've got no studs left now, so I'll have to go back and play a few levels to get back up to 4billion studs again.

On a more housewifely note, I didn't get up to much yesterday, although I alphabetised our CDs, plus I did loads of ironing. I still haven't got Pootle back, so I didn't go to the gym this morning as I wanted to, but I might go this afternoon depending on what time she's finished.

Quiz was great fun last night - Angela cooked us a lovely meal, although we did stink of garlic a bit afterwards, but we didn't do too well in the quiz itself. At least we didn't come last though!

I found my camera cable (as you can probably see!) so I've taken some photos of the house in the "before" state:

Quite a lot to sort out! I guess I'd better get on with it then....
After lunch....

My first post :-)

I've decided to start blogging as a way of keeping track of what I've been up to whilst not working. I was made redundant from my job at Teleca 7 weeks ago, as they closed the Manchester office. Since then, I spent six weeks working for Mobica on a Symbian project, but now I'm free!

I haven't really done much yet, last week was spent cleaning the house as we had JK and Gareth to stay for the weekend, and yesterday I was feeling a bit blah, so apart from going to the gym and Tescos, I spent most of the day playing Lego Batman.

Today, I've taken Pootle to the garage for her MOT (fingers crossed...) and made a start on sorting out the CD rack. Oh, and put some washing on - we seem to have an endless pile of washing to do, even though there's only two of us! And I promised I'd do Ade's ironing later too, although I might just play Lego Batman instead ;-)

I'll sort out my camera in a bit, and see how it works adding photos and stuff. But for now, back to the CDs....
